I love J.R. Organics
“I love J.R. Organics. Their CSA selection is awesome and seasonal, of course. If you do a pickup at a farmer's market, they give you the option of switching out any produce you don't like. For instance, I hate any melon, so in summer I was able to switch out the melon for more greens, or whatever they had available.
Their website shows you what to expect in your next delivery and gives some great recipes to try out with your food.
I highly recommend trying a CSA as you will try new foods you would likely pass up in the grocery store. It is also a great way to support local farmers and organic produce!

“J.R. Organics has some of the best fruits and vegetables I have ever had. As a child, we always had a garden, and although I still have a small potted garden, I really missed farm fresh food. Solution, J.R. Organics . . . every other Wednesday, the large box is packed with a delicious variety of locally grown produce. Some of the items do not make it home as they are eaten on the drive home! The remaining items are cleaned and then used everyday. Some of the items I have never heard of and it is great to discover new recipes and tastes not yet experienced in my forty-eight years on Mother Earth. The quality is impeccable and can last for more than two weeks if properly stored. The apples are the best ever.
Additionally, this has changed the way I shop for food and has lowered my food costs. Since the box is so bountiful, going to the local market is not as necessary as it used to be and buying the 'extra' non-essential items has been cut down. In these economically challenged times, that is an added bonus.” -Mary

“J.R. Organics is the real deal. Organic & Local. Tastier than in store produce because it is fresher ... & the varieties they use aren't made to last two months ... those have limited flavor. If you want to promote produce over junk food use J.R.'s because it's actually delicious, sweeter, more satisfying, higher in nutrients & your kids will learn what vegetables are SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE & actually like them. “We've been members with J.R. Organics for over a year now and always get excited to go pick up our bi-weekly box and check out the great produce. You'll likely get some fruits & vegetables that you wouldn't normally see or buy in a regular grocery store, but their site is great at listing out some tasty recipes for all the items they carry. This past spring we went down to the farm and had a wonderful tour and meal. Overall, the price is great for the produce (you'd easily spend more buying the same items piecemeal from various farmers market vendors or grocery store), the quality is always great, and they let you exchange items if necessary. I can't recommend CSA's in general or J.R. Organics specifically any more than this: I love them!” - Jeffrey P.
Best decision I've made in a while!
“I'm not much of a cook, so I was hesitant to join the CSA, thinking I might waste a bunch of food. But it's all so good and stays fresh for so long, that I never have that problem. I'm enjoying the variety of vegetables and fruit that I get every two weeks, and the more unusual veggies I receive are challenging me to find recipes and actually try them at home. Before joining the CSA, I had always chosen the vegetables at J.R. Organics' stand at my farmers market because the quality was so much better than the other available options. Their produce is the best I've had in this area and the CSA is a great way to enjoy it all.”

“I've been a member for about four months now and am loving it! I chose J.R. Organics because of their flexibility in membership options and competitive price.
The produce has been fantastic. The strawberries are, seriously, the best I've ever had. I've also been exposed to so many new vegetables that I had never heard of before and it's been really fun learning how to prepare them and having friends over for dinner to share everything.
The best part really is their customer service. I'm constantly traveling for work and they're always really understanding in letting me put my account on hold, or reschedule my pick up. I also love that if there's something I really can't stand in my box (like cabbage - yuck!), they'll let me trade it out for something that I love...like their zucchini - amazing.” - Beth
One of the best CSAs in San Diego
“I've tried other CSAs in San Diego, but this has been the most rewarding. I've been a member for over a year now, and I'm consistently impressed with the quality and variety of seasonal produce the farm puts out. To make the product even better, their customer service is some of the best around: personal, quick to respond, and very interested in networking ideas about recipes, books, etc. Whenever we have company in town, they always rave about the produce I cook with, claiming they forgot what "real" vegetables taste like. I've tried many items for the first time through the CSA (many not the last!).
I think this CSA is also great for budding or established home chefs because it challenges you to create your week's recipes based off what's coming fresh from the farm. Every week, I see the list of what's in the box and start putting together my "menus". It also allows me to try cooking with ingredients I may not otherwise have used.

“I've been with J.R. Organics for a year and I am extremely satisfied! The boxes are fresh and diverse with lots of variety. I really like the fact that I can trade an item or two to customize my box. Since I pick up at the farmers' market it's easy for me to substitute and even add to my share. I have two children who are not the biggest fans of lettuce, but they love strawberries and cucumbers! J.R. “I look forward to my delivery day all week long! J.R.'s produce is so tasty . .. honestly the tastiest carrots, tomatoes, avocados, and watermelon I have ever tasted. And the pickling cucumbers are unbeatable! J.R. is also much more affordable than other CSA's that I've looked into in my area, not to mention the fact that they always cater to your needs (if you are out of town, etc.) and do all they can to accommodate any situation.
